Summer...

Summer is my favorite time of year where I live. I live up in the high desert and our warm season isn't very long so I really love summer! This week we are showing you ideas for summer cards. One thing summer brings is time to be out in the garden and it's such a joy when I hear the familiar hum of a beautiful hummingbird buzz by. So for my card today I pulled out the gorgeous Hummingbirds set.
Hummingbird
I stamped the fushia flowers first and then positioned my hummingbird to come take a sip of nectar. I watercolored the image using Tombow markers. I always use watercolor paper and a #4 round brush to paint with. My favorite way to get blended colors is to go wet on wet. You first wet the area you are working on with clean water and then drop in color which is also wet, hence the wet on wet term. It's always so magical to see how the colors blend and soften. For my sentiment I used the Happy Birthday from the Flower of the Month: Water Lily set.

I layered some cardstock underneath the image and then added some machine sewing. I hope you are feeling ready for summer if that is the next season for your neck of the woods. Have a great day!
