Day 1 of the Mothers and Daughters Creations First Annual Mothers and Daughters Traditions Blog Roll

Thanks for joining the very first Mothers and Daughters Creations Mother’s Day Traditions Blog Roll. You can find all of the exciting details about this blog roll on the main Mothers and Daughters Challenge Blog, where our own Mother and Daughter Team of Linda and Tam will be sharing some very special Mothers Day memories and traditions.
This week Cathy is hosting the weekly card challenge for MDC on her blog, The Seaside Rose Cottage, and she’s offering some sweet blog candy – think key lime and strawberry. Here’s my card for Cathy’s challenge.

The challenge is to make a card using layers. I pulled out some new Basic Grey Marrakech Paper and stamp set and made a layered peacock feather "flower." Each feather was stamped in black and then trimmed out and layered on top of each other. I then stamped and trimmed 2 other stamps that looked like flower elements to me and layered those on top.

Be sure to visit Cathy's , Melissa, Giovanna, and the MDC blog to see all the fabulous creations!

Day 5 of the Mothers and Daughters Creations First Annual Mothers and Daughters Traditions Blog Roll

A vintage feel is what we are going for today. It's pretty easy to add some vintage like elements to your cards or scrapbook pages. Distress ink and stitching along with a bit of lace and a fitting image make this card feel vintage themed. I used some paper from Mark's Paper Co. and Kaiser, added some Prismacolor aquamarine color to the girls dress and boy's shirt. The flower was punched from the same paper just using the backside. Why don't you give it a try? Now let's see what else is in store for the blog roll.
Mother’s Day is a time for us to reflect back on the special women in our lives - mother, grandmother, daughter, mother-in-law, aunt, cousin, mentor friend. Today’s special Mothers and Daughters Traditions Blog Roll challenge is being hosted by Melita on her blog. Join Melita in making a special scrap page to honor and remember a special woman in your life. Visit her blog for some wonderful ideas and a chance to win some blog candy that says traditions. Laurie and Mia have also posted pages on their blogs, so visit them for even more inspiration and more chances to win today’s blog candy!
Then, visit Tamara’s blog for our second challenge of the day. Old family pictures often have a vintage feel and what better way to highlight them than with vintage styled borders, embellishments, mats, and frames. Tamara takes you through the process of making some wonderful designs for your own scrap book and is offering some gorgeous “vintage” style blog candy as well. Need more ideas for vintage themed designs? Check out the samples for this challenge made by Cathy, and Robin. For more info be sure to check the MDC blog.

Paper Blooms Challenge #5

Head on over to the Paper Blooms blog to join us for this week's challenge which is an inspiration one! The above picture is your inspiration and these are my everyday dishes. When I first got married we couldn't afford really pretty dishes so we made due with some not so inspiring ones from Walmart. Well, a couple of years ago on Valentines my wonderful husband told me I could go find some dishes I loved and replace our Walmart special ones. And these are what I found and fell in love with! I hope they inspire you to hop on over and join us...at least go take a peek at what the amazing DT came up with.

Also, have you noticed my new blog look? That is thanks to my friend Tina! She is not only a super talented paper crafter she is computer savvy too! I just love my new look and hope you do too! Go hop on over to her blog to take a look at some of her beautiful creations. Hope you have a wonderful Wednesday!

House Mouse Challenge #35- Get Well

This week over at the House Mouse and Friends blog the challenge is to make a get well card. I adore this image and thought the whole "under the weather" feel worked for a get well card. I stamped the image on PTI kraft in Versafine Onyx black and colored with my Prismacolor pencils. I love how the color really pops on the kraft. I stitched around the mat, piereced on the Labels 4, added a punched border and a pretty bloom from Paper Blooms. Paper is from K&Co. Hope your day is full of health and sunshine!

Fluttering by...CDS Guest DT spot entry

Well, I thought I'd give a try to the GDT spot over at Clear Dollar Stamps. I love this Charlie Daisy set and had to use it. The challenge was to have something dangling off your card/project. I thought a trio of butterflies would be perfect. I stamped the small butterfly from the Charlie Daisy set onto a punched out butterfly (MS) and hung them all from the button that is sewn on the ribbon bow. All the images are colored with Prismacolor pencils. I added the pretty flower vine image to either side of the ribbon down the middle, added some stitching and chalk ink distressing. I wanted to highlight the word "thankful" so I pierced just under that word. Clear Dollar Stamps have a ton of super cute and pretty images. Here's to hoping!

Cherries

Over the weekend I got a new Cricut cartridge Hello Kitty Greetings. It's such a cute cart, and I grew up with Hello Kitty so it brings back childhood memories. There are several other cuts on it that are more versitile and these cherries are one of them. I just loved them so I whipped up this simple card showcasing them. You can't tell from the pic but I covered them in crackle glaze which looks neat in person. Lots of dry embossing and a bit of stitching and ribbon and a punched border from EK Success. The sentiment is from PTI's Wishing You set. Hope your day is a happy Monday:)

So Sketchy Card(s)

Two So Sketchy cards to show you today:) The top one uses a Creative Chaos ticket and because of the sentiment on it I thought it would make a cute anniversary card. The butterfly is from Kim Hughes set, Little Gal available at Cornish Heritage Farms. It uses some of the pretty K&Co. Cut and Paste stack paper.

The second card uses a journaling spot also from Creative Chaos and I stamped the flowers in white craft ink and heat embossed with clear powder. The flowers and bird are from the PTI's anniversary set this year. This card was fun with the window worked into the design. Hop on over to the So Sketchy blog to see the sketches and play along:) Hope you had a great weekend!

Special Delievery

A simple little baby card for you today. I love this little giraffe by Kim Hughes, Baby Love set available at Cornish Heritage Farms. I colored him in lightly with Prismacolor pencils and popped him up. The background paper is stamped using PTI's Polka Dot Basics and the sentiment is from a Heidi Grace baby stamp set. The ribbon is PTI also, Melon Berry Bitty Dots, and I just love it! I think I'll have to try and get more colors in the bitty dot size. Hope you have a lovely Saturday:)

Vintage Friday-Thinking of You

I had so much fun making this card! It was inspired by one of my blogging friends and her love of vintage themed things. I got sucked in to a couple of sites she has listed for free clip art and saved a ton of images and printed this one out to play with right away. Thanks Tina for the inspiration!

Lots of stitching, distressing and stamping on this one. I love Cornish Heritage Farms stamps as I'm sure you've figured out;) I used two wonderful backgrounders on this, the Sophisticated Swirls and French Script. The sentiment is from Clear Art Stamps, Rosy Wishes set. It is a very vintag"y" feeling set so I thought the font looked good. The flourish was cut with my Cricut using Storybook and the lace is a MS border punch as is the tiny butterfly. The pretty stick pin is from my Paper Blooms shop. I then inked and ripped and distressed to give it that shabby chic look. I hope you like it! It's almost the weekend, yea!

PTI Princesses Blogging Group Challenge #1

I am a part of a blogging group and we do challenges every couple of weeks. Well today was our first one, hosted by Diane. Go see her blog and her adorable cards here. It was to use paper piecing. I love doing this with lined images and pulled out a PTI set that hasn't seen much ink, Mailbox Greetings. I paper pieced the mail boxes and the posts separately. The sentiment and flowers are from the same set. The background paper is from DCWV The Green Stack. That is one of my most favorite stacks they've come out with. A bit of PTI Ripe Avocado twill, a scallop border, some embossed circles cut with my Nesties and a bit of twine. Simple, but I like the layout of it. I hope you are having a wonderful Thursday...tomorrow is Friday! :)

MDC Card Challenge Thursday

This week over at the Mother's and Daughter's blog the challenge is to use gemstones on your card. I went for a monochromatic look for this one using some new Mark's Paper Co. paper. The paper was so pretty I let it do most of the work and just added a row of sparkles and 3 to the centers of the prominent flowers. Come join us and be sure to check out the MDC store HERE.

And now for an exciting announcement:

House Mouse Challenge #34 Springtime

This weeks challenge over at the House Mouse and Friends blog the challenge was to make a card that reminds you of spring. I chose this adorable image because both my children were born in the spring, one in March and one in April. I colored the image with Prismacolor pencils and blended with baby oil. That oh so yummy paper is from Basic Grey Sugared collection. Yea me for actually using a piece of it! You can find it here on the MDC store. The sentiment is from PTI and I layered my two favorite Nesties, Label 1 and Label 4. Added some stitching, inking and paper piercing and one of my blooms that you can find at Paper Blooms. The flourish was cut with my Cricut using the Storybook cartridge. I hope your day was spring like! Thanks for visiting and leaving me your comments:)

Paper Blooms challenge #4

It's Wednesday so that means another Paper Blooms challenge! Please come on over to the blog to see all the other amazing DT creations and join us for the fun. Today is earth day so the challenge is to reuse, alter or spruce up something you might usually just get rid of. I made a set of Monogrammed cards for a friend and the holder is a recycled CTMH stamp storage envelope. I store my stamps a different way now and have many of these envelopes I saved just for projects like this one. The gorgeous background was made using the Double Damask backgrounder from Cornish Heritage Farms. And of course the flowers are from Paper Blooms. Please come on over and play with us!

And this award comes from yet another wonderfully talented blogger, Rose. Her blog, My Happy Place is filled with lovely creations. Go visit her too:)

Baby Paraphernalia

A baby card today using Kim Hughes Baby Love set which can be found at Cornish Heritage Farms. Isn't it amazing all the stuff little ones need? My idea was to convey all the supplies they need on a "quilt" kind of layout. It's a simple card but I think it gets the point across:) All the images were colored in with Prismacolor pencils. This is a gender neutral card which is always interesting trying to figure out. Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Birthday, Son

Saturday we had a family gathering to celebrate my son turning 3. This is the card I made for him. He really liked it. There is nothing quite like your child lighting up and smiling when you give him one of your creations. I just got the Kim Hughes Ocean Friends set from Cornish Heritage Farms and love it. SO cute and totally different than anything I have. I adore this shark so I had to use him right away. He is paper pieced and the rest of the images are from the set. The happy birthday is from PTI and the "SON" is from yet another Kim Hughes set called Little Guy. Hope you are having a good Monday! Thanks for visiting:)

Live Your Bliss

Happy Saturday to you! I've got another PTI Guidlines 2 card to show you. The entire thing is stamped, no pattern paper. I really enjoy creating a card that is just all stamped images...and goodness knows I've got so many stamps! *lol* The colors are all PTI too, Sweet Blush, Hibisucs, Ripe Avacado, Aqua Mist and Spring rain. The flower bunch on the Nesties Label 1 mat is from the Beautiful Blooms set. It's a rather simple card and I didn't want to cover up all the pretty stamping.

Got any plans today? We are having a very casual birthday gathering for my son who is turning 3. I'll have his card to show you later:) Hope you all have a great day!

Hand Drawn

Good Friday to you! When I was younger and before I found the hobby of paper crafting I dabbled in drawing and painting a bit. I was never that great at it, but my drawings of flowers and animals were pretty good. So, I decided to try my hand at it again after years of not doing it and the above image on my little wall hanging is what came about. I love flowers and so it felt natural to draw a flower image again. I must say I am very pleased at the outcome. I first drew it in very light pencil and then colored it in with Prismacolor pencils and did some very fine outlining in black pen. The sentiment is from Cornish Heritage Farms, Scripture Essentials. I just love that set! This is going to hang on my wall right by my scrap desk so I can read that scripture more often. I hope you like it:) Leave me a comment would you?! Oh, and be on the look out for some blog candy as I have reached and passed the 5,000 hit mark! Thanks so much for coming to visit!

House Mouse Challenge #33

This week on the House Mouse challenge blog you were to use multiple images. This was perfect for me as I needed to make my brother a belated Birthday card. A very simple card, but since it's for a guy I like the simplicity of it. The focal image was colored with Primacolor pencils and I stamped a PTI border square stamps around it. The sentiment is from a $ Studio G set. I hope you have a great day...it's almost the weekend!

Paper Blooms Challenge #3

This week's challenge over at the Paper Blooms blog is The 5 B's. A very fun challenge and I hope you'll come on over and join us! The DT came up with beautiful projects to inspire you with. For my card I used a new PTI set called Guidelines 2 to create my pattern paper. I love making my own stamped pattern paper and this is set is great for that. The rest is pretty simple as I didn't want to cover up all that pretty stamping. The "lace" and butterfly is a MS punch and the bloom is from Paper Blooms. I hope you have a great day, and please come play with us, we'd love to have you!

Cottage Birthday...

After I altered that frame I had some scraps left over and of course couldn't just toss them! Here is one card I made using all the reject pieces from the frame project. You know how it goes, you have some ideas in your head about what will look good, you cut it all out and try it "on" and it just doesn't work. Hence this card;) The sentiment doesn't show up quite as well as I'd like since it's stamped over some writing that was on the paper, but I figure the chocolate wordage goes with Birthday! Otherwise it's a very simple card, one that will be easy to mail for a birthday. Hope your day is going well, I'm off to visit a friend this morning and hope to get some stamping time in at nap when we get back. Have a happy Tuesday!

So Sketchy card

I have a fun little card for you based off a great sketch by Ally over at So Sketchy! The strips that were in the sketch were a fun addition and I added texture by sewing different stitches on top of them. The little tag is from a great sponsor we had this month and can be found in her Etsy shop, Creative Chaos. Recognize the flower and stem? Yep, using yet again one of the images from My Cute Stamps. The butterfly is a MS punch and the sentiment "Life" is from PIT. I hope your Monday is a good one. Thanks for stopping by and I love reading all your comments:)

Happy Easter!

I hope you all have a blessed day. We are taking it slow today which I'm looking forward to. And no snow this morning!! The sun is out, but it is still pretty cold. Today I have this frame I altered to show you. I don't do altered projects much but I really love how this one came out. I've done pictures frames before and wasn't pleased with the outcome, but I love this one. The yummy paper I used is from K&Co. Cut and Paste stack. I added lots of stitching, pearls, a MS heart lace border and butterflies and hand cut the flowers using none other than My Cute Stamps, Spunky Nature set. I adore this picture of my daughter, my favorite one of her so far. It completely captures her personality. The butterflies were glittered with Stickles, Frosted Lace.
The quote stamp is from CTMH and it reads:
May you have enough happiness to make you sweet, enough trials to make you strong, enough sorrow to keep you human and enough hope to make you happy.

I hope you all have a wonderful Easter and that His love is close to you. See you tomorrow!

MY Cute Stamps Candy giveaway

Here is another card using the Spunky Nature set from My Cute Stamps. There is also some candy being offered for telling you about my favorite set from them and well, this would be it:) I really do love this set and have been having so much fun figuring out all the different looks I can get with it. This is definitely a less "cute" look using the set and I love how it turned out. I actually used some of my new PTI cardstock too, Vintage Cream and Ocean Tides. I wasn't sure I liked the Ocean Tides, but once I actually paired it up with other colors I really do like it. The polka dots are stamped in the Ocean Tides ink using Polka Dot Basics and the tiny sentiment words are from Mixed Messages. I hope you have a wonderful Saturday. Can you believe Easter is tomorrow?! I woke up to snow, so we'll be stuck inside...oh well! Thanks for stopping by:)

Happy...

I'm happy it's Friday, how about you? Just a little baby card using My Cute Stamps and sentiment from PTI. A pretty straight forward card...the only little trick I did was used one of the leafy stem stamps stamped sideways to get the "grass" look on the bottom. I hope you have a great day! Thanks for stopping by and be sure to pop on over to the Paper Blooms blog to see the challenge for this week and the DT's wonderful creations!

It's Friday!!

A fun sketch over at Miss Hippy Chicks blog for you. My version was a bit different style for me but I like how it came out. I am saving this card for my DH on our anniversary. I show him every single thing I make so it's been hard not to show him this one yet;) I used a CTMH stamp set, The Key to My Heart. I like the tag element in the sketch, I never seem to think of using them on my projects. I used some border stamps from Sandy Lion, some inking and stitching.

MDC Card Challenge Thursday

This week over at the Mother's and Daughter's challenge blog we were to make a spring or Easter card with a popped up image. Not much of a challenge for me since I am addicted to poppping up images on my cards:) I pulled out some Imaginisce paper from the Twitterpatted line and did some fussy cutting. I thought that little skunk was just the cutest thing! He's popped up while the other images are flat to try to give it a bit of perspective. I dry embossed the kraft strips with Swiss Dots and stamped my sentiment. A pretty simple card but I wanted the paper to shine. Go stop by the Mother's and Daughter's store to see what great specials they have going on and play along with us this week on the blog! Thanks for stopping by:)

Sweet...my first House Mouse card

I have wanted some House Mouse stamps for the longest time and for my birthday last month I was able to finally get some. They are just so sweet and make me happy to look at. So, along with my new stamps I participated in the House Mouse challenge blog. The challenge this week was to use something with the "sweet" connotation, either image or sentiment. I chose this one since flowers smell sweet (most anyway:) and used a tiny stamp from PTI for my sweet sentiment. I had so much fun coloring my little mouse in with Prismacolor pencils and blending with baby oil. I added some stitching, a new MS border punch, some dry embossing with Swiss Dots and a few brads. The paper is K&Co. I'm trying to get better about using my pretty paper up, I just reorganized my scrap space, and oh my...do I have a lot of paper! I hope you like my little creation today...and your comments always make my day a little sweeter.

CAS Bitrhday

Good Monday! I didn't have much time last night but wanted to make something so I tried my hand at a clean and simple card. I really like how it came out, you know the whole less is more. The flower and leaves are from My Cute Stamps, Spunky Nature. The border stamps are some I've had forever (can't remember by who) stamped in white CTMH craft ink. The sentiment is fro PTI, Birthday Basics. I hope you have a good start of your week! Thanks for stopping by and leaving your comments, they make my day!

Wishing you....

Comfort.

Good Sunday afternoon to you. I'm finally getting around to posting today:) This is a card made with one of my new PTI sets, Wishing You...I absolutely adore the tulip images in this set and love how versatile they can be for either a bright happy card or something more subdued. I chose to make a sympathy card for this one and am pleased with how it came out. I love the Sweet Blush color and paired with the black I thought it was striking but still soft. For the polka dots on the black I stamped them with New Canvas ink using PTI's Polka Dot Basics. I added some hand stitched buttons, stitching, ribbon and the sentiment. I hope you have a great rest of your weekend...and if you haven't played along with us yet over at the Paper Blooms blog there is still time.

Another card for a Happy Saturday!

A little Happy Birthday card for you...I hope you are having a good Saturday, I have been busy but it's been good. Once again I am using my set of My Cute Stamps, Spunky Nature. I just love this set. All the images are from the set including the stamped background. You'll be seeing more cards from me using this set, I just am having a lot of fun thinking up different ways to use it. The sentiment is from PTI's new set Wishing You...I have a card from that set to show you tomorrow. Have a great evening!

A So Sketchy Saturday

I get to show you another card based on another great sketch by Ally over at the So Sketchy blog. Circle cards are a lot of fun and for this one I used my Cricut and Wild Card cartridge to cut my card base. I then stamped the background in black and pulled out a much loved Cornish Heritage Farms image called Sisters. I stamped it in a slate color as I was going for a monochromatic look. I matted the image on some grey and ivory cardstock, added some pretty shimmery bridal flowers from Mikes (I penned in the little dotted centers), a flourish cut with my Cuttlebug and some tiny pearls. Once again I left a sentiment off as I think the image evokes so many sweet thoughts all on it's own. I hope you'll try the sketch out and visit the So Sketchy blog for more inspiration from the other Sistas! Hope you have a wonderful Saturday...I'll have another card to show you later:)

If Friends Were Flowers....

I'd pick all of YOU!

I just discovered a new Stamp Company called My Cute Stamps and oh! are they ever cute! I bought a set right away called Spunky Nature and am loving playing with it. Here is the first card I made the day my stamps came. I just love the leafy stalks and this flower...and the snail and well, the whole set! It's a pretty simple card but I like how it came out. Hope you do too! Thanks for stopping by:)

Spring/Easter challenge card for CHF

Over on the Be Creative Blog for Cornish Heritage Farms there is a little challenge going on to make a spring/Easter card. I love CHF images and played along. I pulled out a Tim Allen's Friendly Critter which I haven't played with much at all and I just think this bunny is the cutest thing! There he is unwrapping his carrot...adorable! I stamped him onto PTI kraft cardstock and then colored him with Primsacolor pencils and blended with baby oil. I just love how the colors really pop when coloring on kraft. I used a backgrounder from CHF, Pretty Pattern for the mat and a MS punch, some sheer ribbon, hydrangea flower, button and some stitching to finish it. I left a sentiment off as I thought this little guy could stand on his own. I hope it's starting to look more like spring where you are. Our trees here are starting to bud and we are having our notorious windy days...can't wait for it to actually be nice so we can go outside! Have a lovely day:)

MDC Card Challenge Thursday

This week the challenge over at the Mother's and Daughter's Challenge blog was called, Out of the Box. Make a design with part of it "spilling" out the the box. For mine I cut away part of the box surrounding the image and popped it up on dementionals. Isn't this such a sweet image? It's from Stampavie and is availible on the MDC store. I colored it with Prismacolor pencils and blened with baby oil. The pretty felt flowers are from Zva and the bling too. I added some Stickles to the rain drops, stitching and the sentiment is from Verve. I hope you are having a wonderful day! It's almost the weekend:) Thanks for stopping by...I really appreciate all your wonderful comments!

Paper Blooms Challenge #1

Today is the kickoff for our weekly challenges over at the Paper Blooms blog! This week it's a sketch and color challenge, green, lavender and cream or white. I hope you'll pop over and play along, I'm giving away a set of blooms to one lucky participant!

For my card I used some pretty paper I've had for ages and a quote card from the same stack. I added some paper piercing and some MS punched butterflies that have Liquid Pearl bodies. The bloom and stick pin is from the Paper Blooms shop. I embossed the cream panels with Swiss Dots and finished it with a bit of inking. I hope you come play along with us!
