Hello! I wanted to pull out my art journal and try something new. I first saw Mynnette's art journal page here and she linked to Miscanthus Crafts blog where there was a video of the technique and I was inspired to try it. I had been going through the kids art stuff and came across and ancient set of oil pastels. ( and by ancient I mean were mine as a kid ) So I sat down and worked with what limited supplies I have.
I don't have any gesso or anything like it so I just die cut my flourishes and glued them down and got to work with my oil pastels in an ombre fashion. I discovered that to get a nice blend with the oil pastels baby oil, or mineral oil works great! I just dabbed some onto a dry baby wipe and blended away. I was pretty happy with my colors ran together.
I then added some text stamping, a quote on a tag and did some heat embossing. That's the white splatters. For the final touches I added some Glossy Accents that dry cracked, punched butterflies and some silver Viva liquid pen. I really enjoyed this page and am linking up to Miscanthus Crafts and Blazer Designs. Thanks so much for visiting!
