Grandparents are the best

I am so incredibly blessed to have amazing parents. I mean really wonderful, supportive, there for me no matter what parents who are also my dearest friends. And I am SO blessed that they live in the same town as me and get to spend so much time with me and my kids. I have been feeling such a deep need to scrap pictures lately and I am really loving it. I love reliving all those still captured moments that I may or may not remember every detail to but that tell an amazing story of our life. So, I have been scrapping all the pictures I have developed already and then want to move on to the many that are still in my camera or CD's. (*don't forget to back up your precious pictures people! They really are irreplaceable*) These are my parents with my son not long after he was first home....how I miss those baby days!! Ayati means Grandma in Amharic which is Ethiopia's national language. The interesting thing is that though they have a national language, the vast population doesn't speak it! They still have so many tribes and are the only African country never to be colonized (hence NO one speaks French) they still have hundreds of native dialects alive and well. My son, had he grown up in the area he was born in, would not have spoken Amharic. But, I wanted to learn and use at least one native word from his birth country and my parents, especially my mom was so happy to have him call her Ayati. (Pronounced AH-YA-TEE) My daughter calls her that too of course:) Anyway..had fun with this one, broke out my Page Maps book for the sketch and find that a really relaxing way to get LO's done. I want the Page Maps 2 book, but I think I'll try to use the one I have first ;) Hugs

Pretty Flourish

I hope you have been having a good week! I feel like I've been so busy lately!! Really hoping I get a bit of a break this weekend....or at least tomorrow:) My card played along with the SCS color challenge and uses the Heart Song Designs image, Butterfly Fancy. Doilies are all the rage right now and I got my hands on a new Cricut cartridge called Paper Lace that is chalk full of them! So pretty and I can cut them pretty much any size I want. That's what the red layer is cut from. Hope your weekend is wonderful, thanks for visiting me:)

Background Digi Stamping

I had a lot of fun making this card experimenting with digi background stamping. I just copied and pasted several of the Heart Song Designs Butterfly Duet images into a Word document so that it covered the top part of my screen and printed it out and cut it down to my card front size. Super easy and fun and no layering needed! I colored the butterflies with Prismacolor pencils. Be sure to drop by the Heart Song Designs inspriation blog if you haven't, the DT posts everyday and the eye candy is great! hugs...

I Love Ewe

The Spring Holiday Cards cartridge is very versitile with all the frames it has and all the cute little sayings that can easily be used for lots of LO's. I chose to do this LO of my daughter using the sweet little lamb, I love ewe, cut. Here's my cutting instructions.
Using Spring Holiday Cards cartridge cut Backgrnd9 at 6 1/4" *you'll have to trim the 4x6 picture down just a bit to make it fit in the frame.*
*Cut the Easter3 cut at 3 3/4".
Using the Cindy Loo Cartridge cut the Paisley3 @ 2 1/4" and 2 1/2"- once with the FLIP feature on and once with it off.
*Emboss the green layer using Swiss Dots and your Cuttlebug.
*Add doddling with the white ink Signo pen.
*Cut the border on pg68 at 1" 2x. for the scallops.
*Cut the butterfly at 1 1/2", 1 1/4" and 1"
*Emboss with Swiss dots
Thanks for stopping by!

Time for Tuesday Throwdown...3d

This week's Tuesday Throwdown challenge is to add some dimension to your project by popping things up! Use lots of pop dots to get your project 3-D. We have a great sponsor this week, Flourishes, so be sure to hop on over and join in the fun! For my card I used the Rose image from the Year of Flowers collection and discovered some really fun new pens to do stamping with. They are Tombow dual tip pens and are perfect for coloring directly onto your stamp and stamping! I am loving this for images with flowers and leaves when I want the leaves green and especially for eleminating masking on sentiments! Check out Scrapbook Pal for the Tombow pens they have, they are fabulous! hugs....

Birthday Flower

I played along over on SCS for this week's sketch. I used the Heart Song Designs images, Anemone Flower and Butterfly Duet. Both images are colored with Copics and the flower has some Prismacolor pencils added for extra depth. Had a scare with my laptop, the battery wasn't charging and I couldn't figure out why until I looked at the part that plugs in to the laptop and saw inside that the little pin that needs to connect to give it a charge had broken off! I got a new one today and boy, they are not cheap!! So now I am leaving it plugged in as much as I can and hopefully this one won't break. Hope you are having a good week....my kids are finally feeling better! hugs....

TT#36- Pocket(s)

Today's Tuesday Throwdown challenge is to make a project with a pocket. I made a card with a pocket that holds a tag. It would be perfect for a gift card too. I used a PTI die to make the sections for my pocket and then punched a hole through both and tied them together with some lace. The butterfly on the tag is colored with Copics and is from Heart Song Designs newest release, Butterfly Duet. I hope you'll come play with us this week, there is always a great sponsor and a chance to win some goodies. hugs....

Anniversary Rose

I played along in the SCS Free for All challenge today and had to use the colors, gold, red and purple. My "gold" is a bit on the orange side but it's really glittery paper so I thought maybe I could get away with it:) I used the Heart Song Designs image, June Rose and colored it with Copics. I hope you will come join me here and on the inspiration blog for this week's Sunday Release! I have 2 new images and a new hand colored digi to show you. Thanks so much for stopping by. hugs....

Birthday Gift

This little birdie has a sweet gift to say Happy Birthday to someone special:) This image from Heart Song Designs is called Ana and Flower and is also available as pre-colored. I colored the image with Copics and layered up my background papers and bow. I hope you are having a good week, my kiddos are sick so we've been laying low at home. hugs....

Birthday Wishes

These colors are not ones I would reach for on my own, but that's what makes it a challenge, right:) I played along with the current SCS CAS challenge and came up with this. The image is the new release for this week, Butterfly Fancy from Heart Song Designs. I colored it with Copics and of course needed to keep it clean and simple. Have you been to the Heart Song inspirations blog? You really should go pop in over there, the DT posts new cards everyday! Thanks so much for stopping by!

TT-Buttons

Today's Tuesday Throwdown challenge is to use buttons! Shouldn't be too hard ;) For my card I used quite a few buttons and stitched them onto my cardstock scallop panel. The image is from our sponsor this week, Fred She Said and I colored it with Copics. Be sure to pop on over to the TT blog and join in the fun!

Sweet Valentine's Box

I LOVE the box cuts especially on the new Spring Holiday Cards cartridge. I decided to make my daughter one of these sweet boxes for Valentine's, so I kept it simple as she is only two and let's face it, the box doesn't stand much of a chance! I chose what is "suppose" to be an Easter cut, but with love in it I thought is was perfect for Valentine's too. Here's how I made it:

*Using a 12x12 mat and the Spring Holiday Cards cartridge, cut the box with the fit to page feature on.

*Cut the some bunny loves you at 5"

**TIP: Adhere the decortive panel, in this case the some bunny loves you cut out, BEFORE you adhere the box together. Also do any stamping or doodling before putting the box together.

*Use embrodiery floss to give the bunny a bow.

*Stamp around the some bunny loves you frame.

*Shade bunny with Copic markers to give some depth.

*Using the Mother's Day Bouquet cartridge cut Flower 28 at 2", 1 1/2" and 1". Curl petals and adhere together.

*Cut leaf 2 at 1 1/4", emboss flowers and leaves with Swiss dots embossing folder using your Cuttlebug. Swipe with ink.

*Adhere box together and add dots of Fruit Punch Stickles to the stamped flowers.

****Optional****
Give to two year old to destroy, I mean, have fun with:)

Friendship

Sharing a card today using the Heart Song Designs image Vase of Flowers. I colored the image with Copics, added some stitching and cut a little tag for my sentiment. I've been trying to use up a lot more of my pattern paper but it seems like when you cut into a piece you just end up having more because of the scraps! Pop on over to the Heart Song inspiration blog to see what the DT has been up to. hugs...

TT#34- Stitching

Welcome to another Tuesday Throwdown! This week's challenge is a fun one, include stitching on your creation. I chose to get out my Sew Mini which has been a bit neglected as of late, and stiched up a little storm:) The image is from our sponsor, Robyn's Fetish and there is a great prize package up for grabs too if you come play along with us! I colored the image with Copic and see those yummy scallops? I cut those with my Cricut and the Cindy Loo cartrige. (one of my very fav carts!) I cut them at 1" and only had to trim them down a bit. Thanks for dropping by! { hugs }
