Pencil Eraser Snow Dots with Emboss Resist

Hi there! Today I have a fun twist on creating a snowflake effect for your winter and Christmas cards. Let's get started!

Here are some of the supplies you'll need for this technique. The main things are a pencil with a flat, round eraser that's clean, Versamark ink and white embossing powder. I chose to use two new release stamp sets called Winter Friends and Festive Greetings.

I recommend doing all your stamping and coloring first. I knew I wanted to use this pretty tree stand as my focal point so I repeatedly stamped it across my panel and then colored it with Copic markers. I chose Copic markers because the embossing powder won't stick to the colored images and my snow dots are going on top of a lot of the images. Here my embossed snow dots are finished as it was hard to tell what was going on when they were just Versamark ink. To create your snow dots you tap the end of your pencil eraser into the Versamark ink and "stamp" it onto your cardstock. Then you sprinkle your embossing powder and heat set it. Fun, right?!

I really love the pop emboss resist gives so after my heat embossing was cooled I used Distress ink to color my background using a sponge applicator.

And here is my completed card! It's still flat so it's good for mailing out which is what I especially prefer for Christmas cards.
