Black Friday Challenge/NBKS sketch challenge

Hello everyone! Did any of you brave going out on Black Friday? I went out for a short time to Mike's and found a few things ...then came home to my lovely package from CHF. I am totally in love with this new backgrounder, Ortamental Vines! SO pretty and versitile.

So I whipped up this card for the Stamp Something challenge (use black) and the Never Been Kissed Scrappers sketch challenge.

I stamped the backgrounder in Berry Sorbet onto some creamy cardstock. Then I cut out 3 Label One dies and 3 Square Nesties. I decided which part of the backgrounder I liked and inked that part and layed my Label One die cut right face down on top of the backgrounder, pressed and carefully lifted. That way I got only the flower part I wanted. I then colored each one in with my Prismacolor pencils and blened with baby oil. I popped each label die up on demensionals and adhered them to the square mat.

To finish it I added some ribbon and rounded the corners. I stamped the sentiment (from PTI) in Versamark Onyx Black and am really happy with how it turned out. The sentiment reads," This moment contains all moments. C.S Lewis"

Kazans Sketch 14

A great sketch this week from Kazan over at 2 Sketches 4 You. (see link under blogs) Barely any stamping on this one! Just a Verve sentiment. I used some pp I've had for quite some time and did alot of cutting out the details I wanted, the flower, the scallop border. The mats are Labels One Nestie dies. To finish it I added some rhinestones, a stick pin through a little paper heart and some twine. Thanks for visiting and for your comments!

MDC Color Challenge/Gingerbread man

Over at the Mothers and Daughters Creations blog (http://mdcchallenges.blogspot.com) there is a color challenge of dark green, light green and red and you got "extra points" if you used a gingerbread man on your project. So I thought it would be fun to make my card the gingerbread man, or in my case, gingerbread lady. I used the colors and I think she came out pretty cute. I hand drew the template and chalk inked, dry embossed and glittered her. Thanks for visiting!

True strength is Delicate

This card is based on a sketch over at the Never Been Kissed Scrappers Forum. This came together really quickly when I decided on my colors and what stamp I wanted to use. The butterflies are from Inkadinkado, Patterned Bugs. I embossed them with white detail emboss powder and colored them in with a gelly roll glitter pen, Clear Star. The sentiment is also embossed and is from PTI. The border is a Martha Stewart punch and the flowers are primas and some random ones I had laying around. Finished it off by adding the pearl brads to the flower centers and some stitching. Thanks for looking!

Birthday Chocolate gift Ensamble

I made the card not long ago and just changed the sentiment since I decided I wanted to use it for a birthday card. Then as a little gift to go along with it I used some packaging from some sample skin care stuff as my template for this cute chocolate holder. I was at first a bit stumped as to how I was going to cut the half circle to hold the top flap down, but then it occured to me to use one of my circle Nesties! I just lined it up with the template, traced it and cut it with my craft knife. These go together really fast and I think is a nice added gesture when you don't want to spend alot on small gift.

I chose to stuff it with Hershey's Special Dark Chocolate, I hope my friend likes it!
Stamps are Fancy Pants, from the garden
Martha Stewart butterfly punch
Deco scissors for the tiny scallop edging
Spanish script background stamp CHF
Inks: Spring Moss, Berry Sorbet (PTI) Ranger Archival Black

It is a place dedicated to those of us who would love to be on a design team and have some of our work recognized but it just never seems to happen. It's a brand new place so please come join to forum too. Come on over and take a look...and spread the word!

Thankful Hearts Thanksgiving Gift Set

This was a really fun project to make. It all started with the card and just went from there.
There is a special family I wanted to give a gift to for Thanksgiving and a couple of ideas came to me. The first was to bake them some yummy pumpkin cookies and include a recipe card with them so they can make them if they like them. (that's the one part of the gift missing since I haven't made the cookies yet) So thinking about what I could use for packaging I decided recycling would be good and cheap. I washed and removed the label of one of my daughter's empty formula cans and altered it of course cooridinating with the card.
Then I thought it would be neat if they could then reuse the can for their Thanksgiving, so I cut some scalloped rectangles with my long rectangle Nesties and stamped, Count Your Blessings and the little acorn. I thought if they wanted they could use the cards to have each family member write what they are thankful for and put them in the can and take them out next year to remember what they were thankful for the year before, and maybe they would do it as an annual tradition.
I am excited to give this gift set to them. I hope they enjoy it! Thanks for visiting, and I love to read your comments!

Thankfulness

With Thanksgiving fast approaching I have started making some autumn/thankful themed cards that I plan on giving with some homemade pumkin bread to some friends. I don't use these colors very often so it's been fun playing around with them.
This card uses CHF stamps from Kim Huges. I really like this set, so many cute elements in it.

This card uses PTI's Spiral Bouqet. I haven't played with this set in quite some time and think it came out pretty.

I hope as Thanksgiving is approaching you are thinking about what you are thankful for!

Cuttlebug Spot Challenge

Over at the cuttlebug spot the challenge this week is to use any winter/Christmas embossing folder along with a border punch. I used the snowflake embossing folder and the big scallop Martha Stewart punch. My trees were cut with my Cricut using Christmas Cheer, the snowflakes were cut using a cuttlebug die and the birdie and sentiment is from Hero Arts. I colored the bird with my Prismacolor pencils and cut him out. I lightly inked the embossed snowflakes in Palette Ballet Blue and added some stickles for shimmer. The snowy hills were also punched with the big scallop Martha Stewart punch. The hills, trees and bird are popped up on demensionals. I hope you like it! Thanks for looking:)
