100 Days Of Tombow!

I am so happy to get to be a part of the 100 Days of Tombow campaign! This is a fabulous campaign that is helping to keep art alive. Tombow is donating up to $10,000 of art products to the Council for Art Education, a national nonprofit promoting and supporting arts education. To celebrate Tombow is showcasing craft bloggers throughout North America to show art is fun!

“We started this campaign with the goal to give back to our loyal customers, the
people who have used Tombow products for 100 years, and to donate $10,000 worth of
product to such a worthy cause. The gratitude and endearment that we’ve received in
turn has superseded all that we’ve given,” said Jeff Hinn – president, American
Tombow. “This campaign is a testament that art is important, that crafting is a part of
the America n experience, and that Tombow will be an integral part of the North
American crafting culture for the next 100 years.”

Tombow sent me a generous sampling of products to work with and I created two cards to showcase these wonderful supplies.

For my first card I wanted to use the fabulous Dual Brush tip markers. I used only the colors in the set they sent to show that you can get fabulous variant colors with only a few colors. I used the blender pen technique to color my flowers. I put some marker color down onto a piece of plastic and picked up the color with my blender pen to color. Your color will start out very intense and then will fade, so using that you can get lighter shades. If you color carefully planning a bit for where you want lighter and darker petals you can achieve the light and dark colors using only one color. I also used the yellow and brown for the middle of the flower and then as a final step used a bit of the grey for additional shading.

My next card features the Irojiten Pencils. I was sent the very pale shade in volume 8 in the Seascape group, so my colors were very light and pastel. I thought a rose image would suit these colors. I started with the lightest pink in the set and then built up layers of a bit darker pink and finished with some purple to add more depth. I layered the two greens in the set for the leaves. These are very lovely pencils and it would be fun to have more vibrant colors to work with as well! They layer together really well and blend so nicely without any extra step such as using mineral oil.

Both cards were adhered using the fabulous Stamp Runner. It is a super easy to use tape runner and the stamping feature is so neat! If you want just a dot of adhesive you hold the runner vertically, push down and viola! you have a perfectly placed dot of adhesive. I like it a lot!

I hope you've enjoyed my projects for this great campaign. I so enjoyed making these projects and will continue to enjoy using my Tombow products. Thanks so much for dropping by!

Beautiful cards. Jennifer McGuire did a lovely watercolor rainbow effect using Tombow markers not too long ago. Your coloring is spot on.
