Bread of Life Gift set

Did I make you hungry? :) I wanted to make a special gift for my friend who is hosting a women's bible study in her home and wanted to use the Bread of Life stamp set from Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps along with some tasty treats. For my card I stamped the pretty bread image and colored it and carefully trimmed it out and then added some pretty finishing touches. While I was thinking of the cookies I wanted to make I realized that I need a somewhat large box to have them lie flat in as these cookies can't just be tossed into a bag. Then an idea hit me! My box is a cereal box with a face lift:) I took a 12 oz cereal box and glued the flap portion closed and then cut 3 sides out of the now, top, of the box. I cut a window in the top flap and adhered some acetate to the inside flap and then covered the rest of the box with some pretty K&Co. paper. Once the box and cookies were made, I added a lining of wax paper and a dozen cookies fit perfectly! I tied the box closed with a strip of ribbon and had my gift ready to go! The cookies I made are super yummy if you like pumpkin, and fall is starting to show, so I love me some pumpkin;) Here's the recipe if you want to try them, ( a tip about getting perfectly formed drop cookies, use a cookie scoop. It's like an ice cream scoop, just made for cookies;) and maybe make a few extra to bless someone with.
Chocolate Drizzled Pumpkin Cookies
2 cups flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp.baking powder
1/2 tsp. pumpkin pie spice
1/4 tsp. sea salt
1/2 cup butter, softened
3/4 cup sugar
1 egg
1 15oz canned pumpkin
4oz melted bakers chocolate or chocolate chips with a dab of butter
Pre-heat oven to 375.
Whisk together dry ingredients. Using an electric mixer, beat sugar and butter together until fluffy. Add egg. Beat until smooth.
With mixer on low, alternately add flour and pumpkin to egg mixture. Mix until just combined. Drop cookies by the rounded Tblspn full on a greased cookie sheet. Bake until edges are lightly browned and cookies are firm to the touch, about 15-20 minutes.
Cool cookies on wire rack. Melt chocolate. With a spoon drizzle the chocolate over the tops of the cookies, refrigerate to set. Enjoy!!

TT19- Punches

I love to use punches and that is this week's Tuesday Throwdown challenge! On my card I used some border punches, one of my favorite ways to use them! Be sure to head on over the the TT Blog and play along with us! There is always a great prize to win:)

My flower was created by using my Cricut to cut several flowers out (but you could use punches) and then I sprayed them lightly with water, crinkled and distress inked them and then layered them together. For my middle I added some pretty flower stamens, I love the look! Check your local craft stores cake section for flower stamens, that's where I found mine:) And one package had three different styles and 180 stamens for just a few dollars.

Thanks so much for stopping by today.

On My Mind

Happy new week to you! Hope you had a great weekend:) My card today uses some gorgeous SEI paper and a lovely Prima stamp, both of which you can get at Your Memories Here. I also used my Cricut to cut the branch and bird cage. I decided I *had* to have the Bloom Cricut Lite cartridge from Walmart and love it. The kraft color patterned paper is very shimmery in person and I lightly stamped the damask that is on the sentiment tag on to it also to help tie in the bit of pink. The frame is from the Prima Wings stamp set that I stamped in Distress ink and then trimmed out. To finish it off I added some pearls and some punched butterflies. Have a wonderful day!

The Sweetest Pair

I've really been loving the Preserves cartridge from Scrapbook Pal, there are so many cute cuts on it and it was perfect for this LO I did of my two sweet kiddos. I decided to use the pear cut and my title is a pun on that:) Here are the cuts I did to create this LO.
Using the Cindy Loo cartrige I cut my title letters out at 1 1/2" with the Font Layer selected. Then I cut at 1 1/2" with the REAL DIAL size ON, 5 times.
Using the Preserves cartridge cut at 4" in kraft.
*Cut with the shift on in green at 4"
*Cut with the layer shift ON and then again with the shift OFF at 4"
*Cut layer shift ON for flowers cut at 1 1/2" with the REAL DIAL size ON.
*Cut Lid, Shift and REAL DIAL size ON at 3/4" and at 1/4"
*Cut with all layers selected at 1 3/4" 2 times.
Assemble all cuts and arrange on LO. Cut a mat for layering and emboss with the matching Preserves cuttlebug folders. Emboss flower cuts also. Add punched butterflies, stamping, pearls, stitching and punched border strip.
Have a wonderful day!

TT18-Paper Pleating

Today's Teusday's Throwdown is paper pleating! A fun technique you can play around with lots of different ways. For my card I chose to make a pleated border that I stitched into place. I think next time I would lightly mist the paper so it was easier to work with. For my image I used the Sweet 'n Sassy set, Morning Glories and colored them with Prismacolor pencils leaving lots of white. I added white gel pen dots to my scallop mat and a button and twine to finish it off. I hope you'll come on over and join us this week!

Papa

Papa is what my kids call their grandpa, and I just had to scrap this picture of all of us together. I used some wonderful patterned paper, Prima flowers and Prima self adhesive pearls, Damask embossing folder and my Cricut to create this LO. All these fabulous supplies can be purchased at Your Memories Here. We have had a tradgedy in the family early this weekend, an uncle was in a serious accident and is on life support, it does not look good. If you would say a prayer for us as we all go through this and be sure to tell your family you love them, you just never know when it might be the last time. Hugs....

Serene Thinking Of You

I played along in the Color Cue {8} Challenge and the colors this time around are yellow, scarlet, green and white. I wanted to ink up my Guiding Light set from Wplus9 and came up with this serene scene. I love, love, love this crane and the cattails and that they are silhouettes! I stamped directly onto my lightly patterned paper and just punched a 1" yellow circle for my setting sun. To add a bit more texture to my CAS card I added some stitching in white and then stamped my sentiment from the Mehendi Medallions. Hope you are having a good weekend:)

Sweet Dreams

I finally used this adorable Sweet 'n Sassy stamps image called Sweet Dreams. I colored it up with Copics and added a generous dose of Stickles in Stardust to make it shine. The sentiment is from the clear set, Little One and is perfect with this digi image. More of my polymer clay buttons, this time star shapes! Have a blessed day.

Happy Day!

I drew this cute little bear up quite sometime ago and have never used him. He is from Sweet 'n Sassy stamps and is called Butterfly Bear. I colored him with Copics and added some Clear Star Sakura gelly roll pen to the butterflies wings and the paper. I kept it pretty simple and added lots of sewing to give it texture. The felt embellie is one I made by cutting two sizes of scalloped circles from my Nesties and then adding a Prima flower and button. Hope your day is happy!

God's answer's are best

It's not always easy to accept but God's ways really are the best. This is a very encouraging sentiment from the new Sweet 'n Sassy stamps set, Prayerful Thoughts. I paired it with the cute set, Flower Jar and colored it with Copics. See those two cute heart buttons? I made those! I have started playing around with some polymer clay and let me tell you, fun! I love that I can now make my own cute little shaped buttons for pennies. Thanks for dropping by!

TT#17- Distressing

A fun challenge this week over at the Tuesday Throwdown, distressing! I love to add distressing on my projects, usually through some Distress ink, but I took it a bit further this time by really roughing up my paper edges with an edge distressor and then actuallly tearing and bending it. I used double sided paper for this so that it looked more finished even with all the distressing. I used a CHF stamp and sentiment, stiched my main panel and added a big silk, twine tied button flower. I hope you'll hop on over the the TT blog and join us this week!

The Bright Side....

Good Monday:) Today I have a card to share with you using some pretty SEI paper and a Halloween stamp with a different twist. I decided to *cut* apart the Snag'em candy stamp (gasp!) because I saw cute little flowers! I'm not super big into Halloween, so turning a candy stamp like this into flowers suited me much better;) I stamped one of the candy pieces 4 times inking the stem in green first and then the rose like top in purple. I then added some distress ink to the bottom to act as my ground and stamped a few cute clouds, my sentiment, embossed and punched some butterflies and finished it off with adding a Dew Drop to the center of each flower. Be sure to go visit the Your Memories Here store to see what fun supplies you need to stock up on and get yourself a treat. Don't be afraid to re-purpose certian supplies, even stamps, if you see it differently than how it was intended! Have a wonderful day:)

Marigold Birthday

I am trying to stock up a bit more on my Birthday cards, so here is one using the recently released Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps October Marigold. You can get this as a clear stamp set or digi! This time for my coloring I used watercolor paper and Distress inks, I really do love the look you can get with this medium. I added some embossing, sewing and a punched border. I hope you are having a great week, thanks for spending some time with me:)

Harvest Blessings

This is a new Sweet 'n Sassy image called Harvest Blessings available in clear set form and it is gorgeous! I decided to try a different coloring technique and have found another coloring medium I love....watercoloring with Distress Inks. I found the best way to have a workable palette was too blot my ink pad onto a non pourous surface, such as a plastic lid or I used my image placing plastic square that I use with my Stampamajig. I then used a fine tipped water brush and had some paper towels near and colored away on my stamped watercolor paper. You do want to be careful not to add too much water as you will get very washed out colors and even watercolor paper can curl with too much moisture. The last little detail I did was once the image was completely dry, I went back over sections and highlighted them with a white gel pen. My little tag is from the office section on WalMart and fit the sentiment perfectly. I added a punched border and some pearls to finish it off. I hope you are having a good day and don't forget to be thankful!

Strawberry Gift Box and Card

I was so excited to get to work with the Preserves cartridge and matching embossing folders and to try out some Smooch product from Scrapbook Pal this month. I decided to make a little gift emsamble by creating a mini pizza box and matching card. I first started with choosing the colors and paper I wanted to work with and then started cutting!
I cut my card base first. Even though the intent of this card is for a recipe, I decided it would look just as good cut larger and folded in half for a notecard. I cut the card on page 52 at 5 1/2" and folded it half.
Next I cut my strawberries. I cut strawberry1 at 2 1/2" and then cut the leaves for it using the layer feature. I then cut strawberry1 again at 1 1/2" with SHIFT On, cutting one with the FLIP feature ON and one with it OFF.
For the strawberry on my card I used strawberry2 at 3" and then cut all the layers, leaves and flowers, cutting an extra flower for my above strawberry1 cuts.
I used the matching Preserves embossing folders to emboss my card base and mats and also used Swiss Dots.
To give my strawberries just a bit of shine I painted on some Taffy Smooch on the raised embossed "seeds". I added an outline of Sakura Clear Star gelly roll pen around the middle of my flower and finished everything off with some punched borders, ribbon and pearls.
I love this cartridge as it has a TON of different sweet fruits to choose from and is perfect for gift giving projects. I hope you enjoyed my project!

TT#16- Celebrate Fall

This week at the Tuesday Throwdown we are challenging you to celebrate Fall! I decided to make a CAS card using a Kim Hughes set, Autumn Trees. I stamped everything directly on to my kraft base and then colored with Prismacolor pencils. This one is for sure being mailed to a friend as it's so nice and flat ;) Hope you'll play along with us, and be sure to go see what the prize is this week!

Daddy's Shoes

This LO showcases a picture of my DS when he was about 18months old trying on Daddy's big work boots, which are steel toed too! I used some shimmery SEI paper and made a border with some brown and black Primas and adhered a dew drop into the center of each, all available from Your Memories Here. Can I just say, don't be afraid to use flowers on boy LO's! Even my dh liked it when I showed him:) I used my Cricut to cut the title and added some stitching to finish it of. Hope you are having a wonderful Monday!

Beautiful....

I played along again in the Color Cue (7) Challenge, whichis to use Cream/White, Aqua, Gold and Red. I sure did enjoy making this card! I pulled out one of the latest releases from Wplus9 called Magical Moments and decided to use this gorgeous peacock and emboss her in gold. To accent her pretty feathers and body I used a white gel pen to color in parts and outline others to make her pop a bit more. I used the small background building block, to stamp my cream panel in red and then trimmed out the gorgeous flower and leaves image for a pretty accent to my bow. This is definetly not a color combo I would naturally reach for, but one I really do love together, thanks for spending some time with me!

Welcome to the SNS blog hop for September's release! We have lots of fabulous sets coming out in clear stamp form this month and the one I get to show you is called Prayerful Thoughts. I love this sentiment and ran with the sewn part of it by creating a quilt like card with lots of actual sewing. Some bling, flowers and a pretty strip of ribbon finished it off.
